The State of the Old North Hate (Week 3)

Lawrence Jordan: The Big 4 held up their end of the bargain this weekend, but ECU and App St. had trouble. Playing WVU in WV is never easy and McNeese state is a top 10 FCS program, but both were expected to put up a better fight.

UNC (2-0): The Tar Heels spun their wheels on the soggy field in CT, but eventually found traction enough to pull out the win. It was not pretty but it put another W in the column. The last undefeated team in NC after week 2? They put it on the line this weekend against in-state EZU...I mean ECU.
NCSU (1-1): The Wolfpack trounced an over-matched Murray St. program and vented a little offensive frustration. Look for much of the same this weekend against Gardner Webb.
WFU (1-1): The Deacs pulled off an impressive comeback against Stanford last weekend. Line up another private school Elon travels down I-40 for a visit.
Duke (1-1): The Blue Devils pulled off an impressive victory over Army. Replacing proven starter Lewis with red-shirt freshman was a bold call...that worked. Tough match in Kansas this weekend.
ECU (1-1): The Pirates need to keep the offense going in the second half. Tough loss last weekend in WV, but the purple and gold will bring a large following to Kenan this weekend. The ECU boys will be fired up against ACC foe.
App St (0-2): The Mountaineers opened up with a tough schedule. They look to turns things around against Samford this weekend.

Games this week:
  • UNC vs ECU 12 pm
  • NCSU vs Gardner Webb 6 pm
  • WFU vs Elon 6:30 pm
  • Duke @ Kansas 12 pm
  • App St vs Samford 3:30 pm
