UNC Tar Heels vs. UConn Huskies Game Preview

Lawrence Jordan: Why UNC will win...
  1. Shawn Draughn, Ryan Houston, and Jamal Womble. This trio led the rushing attack that total 261 yards against the Citadel. Don't look for as large a total this game, but the RBs will play a large role in the Tar Heels success.
  2. Size. The offensive line might be inexperienced by they outweight their UConn defensive counterparts by an average of 40 lbs. Most notably 300+ pounders Jolly and Ingersall vs. UConn's 238 pound Joseph.
  3. Injuries. UConn's defensive leader, Scott Lutrus, is questionable for the game tomorrow with a shoulder injury. His coach calls him "indispensable."
  4. Defensive Depth. Austin, Sturdivant, and Quinn lead a deep and experienced frontline against UConn's formidable RB combination of Todman and Dixon. The Heels will give up more than the 30 yards the Citadel gained, but in a match-up of strength on strength the Heels have the advantage.
  5. Turnovers. Zach Frazer threw 3 INT's last year against the Heels and did the same last week against Ohio University. Watch for the Heels to capitalize on his miscues.
Final Score:
North Carolina 24
Connecticut 13

Line: UNC -5
